OUR STORY.
Hi there. We’re Simon and Graham the owners of Soa Brew Co, an independent British microbrewery on the Isle of Purbeck in Dorset, nestled between Bournemouth, Poole, and Dorchester. Two brothers now settled in the local area, our aim is to help everyone discover and enjoy craft beer.
For many years we have both enjoyed the pleasures of beer (even before craft beer was a “thing”) and in our mid-twenties we both (separately!) started to experiment with home brewing, Simon from the function room in the back of the pub he ran – and Graham with two close friends at UBREW in Bermondsey. It was during these times that we both fell in love with brewing beers that others enjoyed! Fast forward a number of years – and here we are – at the start of our dream journey in running a microbrewery.
Soa.
So, why Soa? Soa stands for Sons of Alison – our late mother – who very sadly passed away in June 2020 after a short battle with an awful degenerative disease – CJD. So we have named our independent British microbrewery in her memory. We are two of three brothers, and whilst Colin isn’t directly involved in the microbrewery – he has enthusiastically taken on an honorary position making sure the craft beers are up to standard 🙂

Our ethos.
We have a desire to open up the world of craft and help everyone enjoy craft beer and discover their own journey. To be honest – we are not even sure we particularly like the word “craft” – as even that seems prohibitive for some people. The huge range of styles, tastes, and variations that exist in the craft beer world is what makes it great – but it also makes it daunting to those who still enjoy mass-produced beer. And unfortunately, the craft beer world has some work to do to make sure it is inclusive and welcoming to all. We have grand plans – so watch this space!

Our microbrewery.
Currently set up in Graham’s garage on the Isle of Purbeck – just outside of Swanage, Dorset. It is such a beautiful and peaceful place, and we are so lucky to be able to enjoy this amazing place. We have a small (but perfectly formed) 100l set up – which one day will become our pilot kit. Remember those grand plans I mentioned? We want our next microbrewery to be a real experience for our guests – family-friendly, great locally sourced food, and plenty of space to enjoy the amazing countryside. As you can imagine – these places are hard to come by – but we hope to have identified somewhere nearby in the Bournemouth, Poole or Purbeck area soon!
Our beers.
What about our beers? We have both been fortunate to have travelled, studied, and worked all over the world. And all our beers are influenced by these experiences in one way or another. As we grow the microbrewery, and our range of beers, this will always be at the forefront of our beer development – and hopefully over time will be able to create beers based on our shared experiences with you.
So head over to our online shop and have a look – we hope you enjoy what we have created – and look forward to sharing our journey through the world of craft beer with you.
